Reorganization and Delegate Selection 2020

Every four years, Kentucky Democrats rebuild our party through a process called Reorganization. We select new Democrats to govern the party; beginning with precincts to counties to the state levels.

Important dates that you must be able to commit
● March 21st 2020 -10:00 AM Scheben Branch Boone County Library- Precinct Convention
● April 18th 2020 – 10:00 AM Scheben Branch Boone County Library- County Conventions
● May 19th – 2020 Primary
● May 23rd 2020 -10:00 AM Scheben Branch Boone County Library – County and Legislative District Caucuses

Precinct Convention

Boone County has a total of 63 voting precincts. Registered Democrats will be meeting to select one man, one woman and a person under the age of 35 to represent each precinct. Precinct Officers have a duty of voting to elect the County Executive Committee. At this Precinct Convention we will discuss the direction of the Boone County Democratic Party and how you are able to help move the Boone County Democratic Party forward.

County Conventions
This is the meeting where the leadership of Boone County’s Democratic party is elected and organized. Precinct Officers selected at the Precinct Convention on March 21st, may nominate Democrats to the Executive Committee, and vote to select ten men and ten women to lead the Boone County Democratic Party for the next four years. At this County Convention, we also Nominate and elect delegates to attend the State Convention in Frankfort on June 6th.

County Caucuses
This is the meeting where any registered Democrat in the county can vote for any delegate to attend the Congressional District and State Conventions on June 6th in Frankfort, Kentucky. Delegates attending the Congressional District and State Conventions will be electing delegates and alternates to the Democratic National Convention, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

After we have completed the reorganization of the Precincts and County, the Democratic Party will go through a Delegate Selection as part of the Presidential Primary process. Delegates are elected to the District and State Conventions and then to the National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

● June 6th 10:00 AM Congressional District Convention – Frankfort, Kentucky
● June 6th 2:00 PM State Convention- Frankfort, Kentucky

Congressional District Convention – Frankfort, Kentucky
Delegates from Boone County will gather with delegates from other counties in the 4th district, to elect members of the State Central Executive Committee (governing body of the Kentucky Democratic Party). The 4th District will elect six delegates, one Elector and one Alternate to participate in Kentucky’s electoral college.

State Convention – Frankfort, Kentucky
This is the meeting where members of the State Central Executive Committee are elected. The process will also include electing pledged party leaders to attend the National Convention. The newly elected State Central Executive Committee will hold its first meeting.
